Waste Heat Recovery Units

WHRU are a natural extension of the heat transfer expertise of BIH.

WHRU are applied to recover heat from the exhaust of Gas Turbines in:
• Offshore platforms
• Floating Production Storage and Off loading Vessels (FPSO)
• Onshore terminals and gas plants
• LNG plants
BIH’s global success and reliability in fired heater design and supply is being utilised in this area of heat transfer technology.

Within the WHRU package BIH can take responsibility for:
• Silencing
• Supplementary firing
• Auxiliary firing
• Internal/external bypass
• Dampers

WHRU types:
• Vertical
• Horizontal
• Integral bypass
• Separate bypass

Heat Recovery Steam Generators

BIH have expanded into the utility heating market by offering fired and unfired HRSG for a full range of gas turbines and other heat recovery applications up to and in some cases beyond Frame 7.
In addition, BIH can offer a full range of bespoke package boilers and fired steam generation equipment, especially those targeted at more demanding applications.
The types of units offered are all based on previous experiences and can be summarised as follows:

Firing Type
• Unfired
• Fired (conventional burners)
• Duct burner fired (using O2 in flue gas)
• Augmented air fired (using fresh air from fans in a hot exhaust stream)

Exhaust Gas Orientation
• Horizontal flow
• Vertical flow
• Straight through (no bypass)
• Separate bypass stack
• Integral bypass
Casing Design
• Hot casing
• Cold casing (preferred for larger units)

Services

In addition to our core activities, BIH utilise our in house expertise to benefit clients with supplementary services.
BIH are able to apply our engineering knowledge and operational experience to benefit our clients who are considering a revamp or upgrade of existing heaters, or who want to study different options for heat recovery or furnace design concepts.
This is achieved through an extensive process design review and study conducted by a highly experienced BIH process design specialist.
Our clients are increasingly benefiting from this service, especially making informed decisions when considering from the perspective of a life cycle cost analysis.
This will also ensure that potential choices are made on the best path forward at an early stage in the project.

Evaluation of existing equipment using process design models for new applications and requirements.
Budget pricing to establish the viability of future plants worldwide.
Project Management through our in house systems to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.
Revamp, optimisation work – BIH offer cost effective innovative solutions to increase
the capacity and/or efficiency of an existing unit, such as the addition of a preheat
system, installation of low NOx burners, or a new convection section or SCR system.
Spare parts – BIH keep a complete record of heaters we have built and can supply any spare parts that you may require. We have a proven record of assisting clients across the world, even if the existing equipment was not supplied by BIH. We can use our extensive knowledge and networks to source your spare part requirements.
